Martinez Peciña

Una mujer con un vestido rojo se sienta en un trono negro adornado, con una paloma en el brazo y expresión pensativa.

Arantzazu Martínez Peciña, Vitoria, Spain, 1977. Graduated from the University of Fine Arts of the Basque Country, with a higher degree from the New York Academy of Figurative Art and specialization in academic realism at Water Street Atelier in New York.

His compositions, populated by historical, mystical, and fantastical settings, are sustained by a profoundly contemporary visual narrative. A vision formed in our time, influenced by new ways of disseminating and consuming images.

In her painting, universal characters and symbols are "remastered," not as they once were, but as we imagine them today. Eternal motifs are freed from the weight of the past to be reborn with the power and magnetism of a film still. This is not just the vision of a realist painter: it is a reality reconstructed with the visual intensity of a Hollywood trailer. This fusion endows her work with a powerful conceptual and emotional content far removed from mere recreation.

TECHNIQUE

Technique is always used with the aim of generating an illusion capable of permeating the viewer and touching their senses, their intellect, and their emotions. It draws on a wide range of traditional and contemporary techniques to generate the illusion of reality and pictorial richness. We see the history of painting in its ability to recreate space, three-dimensionality, different textures, and the light that bathes them; in carefully crafted compositions that construct part of the meaning; and in the use of color.

EMOTION

Her artworks are born with the purpose of connecting with our essence and awakening inner feelings of well-being, confidence, strength, and freedom. Every element of the work contributes to this purpose. The artist harmoniously blends the expressiveness of the human figure, its body language, and microgestures, along with the colors of the scene and the rhythms of the composition.
